Recreational Training Sessions are Done for the Season

The recreational training sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays with me are done for the season.   They will resume in the Spring once the soccer season starts back up again.   Please make sure to confirm with your coaches, if they are hosting practices on those nights this week to prepare for the last week of the recreational season or not.

This was the first year that EMSSC offered training sessions like these to help the volunteer recreational coaches train the recreational players.   The idea was to give the recreational players more technical training (dribbling, passing and shooting) along with some tactical training (positional awareness and spacing.)   It also allows the Director of Coaching Dennis (Mooch) King and myself the abilty to see potential compettitive players.

I would love to hear your feedback on these training sessions so, I can make them more productive for the players in the future.

Thank you

Coach Chad

Weenie Roast & Movie Night Cancelled

Hi everyone,

After being at the fields all morning we will have to cancel the Weenie roast and movie night tonight.

It is too windy to put up a movie screen and with the wind temperature I don't think anyone would enjoy eating outside.

We will reschedule the event in the spring.

Thanks for understanding.

Have a great weekend and stay warm.

As always please contact me with any questions.

New Training Format for Recreational Soccer
Hello everyone Fall soccer season is here.   I am Chad Cruse the Assistant Director of Coaching for Recreational Soccer.   I am excited to announce a new format for training for our EMSSC Recreational soccer players.  I will be conducting one 45 minute training session with every age bracket once a week.   There are 3 main reasons why we are doing this new training format.   First and most importantly, it is to improve technical training for the players to enhance their development as soccer players.   Secondly, it will allow myself and the Director of Coaching Mooch King the opportunity to evaluate and recommend players to our competitive teams as we see players train.   And finally, it will provide education and assistance to our volunteer parent coaches with ideas to conduct additional training sessions and about the game of soccer if they do not have any prior experience.

These will be mandatory practices and all the players for that age bracket no matter which team will participating together.   These practices will be conduct behind the maintenance shed at Jacobs Park starting August 28th and will go on every Tuesday and Thursday until the last week of season.

The schedule for the 2018 Fall Season is as follows:

U6 girls and boys (born 2013 or 2014)         Tuesday nights from 5:30-6:15
U8 girls and boys (born 2011 or 2012)          Tuesday nights from 6:30-7:15
U10 girls and boys (born 2009 or 2010)       Thursday nights from 5:30-6:15
U12 girls and boys (born 2007 or 2008)       Thursday nights from 6:30-7:15
U14 girls and boys (born 2005 or 2006)       Thursday nights from 6:30-7:15

Look forward to seeing everyone next week, please make sure the players have shin guards, soccer shoes and water with them.  We can provide more details and answer any questions you may have at the Rec kick off this Saturday August 25th.
